Israir Begins Licensing Process for Flights to Japan

Following its recent inaugural flight to New York, Israeli airline Israir has initiated the licensing process for potential flights to Japan. The company's CEO, Uri Sircus, revealed that the process began yesterday, marking a significant step in Israir's expansion into long-haul routes.

This move towards Japan, a destination on the other side of the world, follows Israir's substantial investment of $85 million in wide-body aircraft to enhance its capacity for distant destinations. The airline is also investing in international operational infrastructure, including technological systems, service facilities, and aircraft maintenance, with over $10 million allocated for heavy maintenance facilities in Larnaca.

Sircus emphasized that the human element, or "our human infrastructure," is Israir's most crucial asset in its growth strategy. The recent flight to New York, which carried approximately 240 passengers on its inaugural journey, is considered a major developmental milestone for the company.

While the New York route is now operational and available for booking, the initiation of the licensing process for Japan does not guarantee immediate flight availability or a set launch date. It signifies Israir's active consideration of adding Japan to its network, with Thailand also being a future target destination.
