UK Lawmaker Calls for Military Action Against Israel

A British Member of Parliament, Tahir Ali of the Labour Party, has called for the UK Parliament to consider military action against Israel. The proposal was made during a debate on the Gaza conflict, according to The Jewish Chronicle. Ali also raised the question of Israel's potential disarmament, drawing a parallel to demands for Hamas's disarmament and dissolution. He questioned why disarmament should not be considered for Israel, "given the actions of the Israeli army and the consequences of the conflict."

Ali referenced past interventions by British governments in the Middle East, citing human rights violations and the protection of international trade routes as justifications for such actions. He posed the question, "Isn't it time to take military action against Israel too?"

His remarks came in response to a speech by Liberal Democrat MP Richard Ford, who advocated for the disarmament and dissolution of Hamas as part of a long-term conflict resolution. Ford rejected any comparison between Hamas, designated a terrorist organization by the UK, and the State of Israel.

This is not the first time Ali has called for British military involvement concerning Israel. In July of the previous year, during parliamentary debates, he urged then-Foreign Secretary David Lammy to deploy British troops to protect Palestinians, referring to what he termed "genocide committed by the IDF."
