UK Parliament Member Calls for Military Action Against Israel

During a debate on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the British Parliament, Labour Party MP Tahir Ali questioned whether it was time for the UK to take military action against Israel. The Jewish Chronicle reported on Wednesday, September 16, that Ali made this statement in response to Liberal Democrat MP Richard Ford, who had stated that "the disarmament of Hamas must be part of any long-term solution" to the conflict.

Ali interrupted Ford to ask, "Should we not also call for the disarmament of Israel, given the atrocities committed?" He implied that previous attempts to restrain Israel had failed and suggested considering forceful pressure, specifically "military action."

Richard Ford rejected Ali's comparison between Hamas and Israel, deeming such parallels inappropriate. The Jewish Chronicle noted that Ali had previously urged former Foreign Secretary David Lammy in July of the previous year to "deploy troops to protect Palestinians from the genocide being committed by Israel."

Another Labour MP, Imran Hussain, also called for decisive action against Israel, stating, "The scale of death and suffering caused by the Netanyahu government's genocide in Gaza requires further urgent and immediate action."
