Ex-Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen Joins Quantum Tech Startup QXL
Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen has been appointed president of the scientific council at Israeli startup Quantum X Lab (QXL), which is traded on Nasdaq. This move follows a trend of former Israeli security officials taking high-profile positions in the tech industry. Cohen's appointment comes about a month and a half after his predecessor as Mossad chief, Yossi Cohen, was appointed chairman and vice president at the Ondas Group.
QXL, founded four years ago by Professor Nir Sharon and Yaki Barness, specializes in advanced quantum technologies. Their developments include quantum-based navigation alternatives to GPS, as well as cyber and atomic-precision sensing solutions. The company emphasized that Cohen's role will be active, involving shaping the company's quantum computing strategy and fostering international partnerships for global market commercialization.
Cohen stated he considered several deep tech and quantum companies before choosing QXL. He will join leading researchers from the Technion and the Weizmann Institute on the scientific council. This appointment follows his recent selection as a strategic advisor to the Japanese investment giant SoftBank.
