Ex-Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen Joins Quantum Tech Firm Quantum X Labs

Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen has been appointed president of the scientific advisory board at Quantum X Labs Inc., a company specializing in quantum technology. Cohen, who led the Mossad from 2016 to 2021 and previously served as National Security Advisor from 2013 to 2016, will focus on applications for the defense and critical infrastructure markets in his new role. He also currently serves as a strategic advisor to SoftBank, a position he took in August 2026.

In his capacity at Quantum X Labs, Cohen will collaborate with other board members, including Professor Oren Corland from the Technion and Professor Oren Raz from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Their collective goal is to provide strategic scientific guidance and assess the company's technological direction, particularly in areas such as quantum computing, quantum error correction, quantum software, quantum cybersecurity, and quantum sensing.

Quantum X Labs develops a range of quantum technologies, including a quantum computing platform based on neutral atoms, an AI-driven quantum error correction architecture, and a quantum gyroscope chip for GPS-denied navigation. The company is also working on atomic clocks for precise timing, quantum cybersecurity initiatives, nuclear simulations, and life sciences applications.

Cohen stated that he chose Quantum X Labs due to its "rare combination of exceptional human capital and significant technological potential." Yaki Berns, co-CEO of Quantum X Labs, highlighted Cohen's appointment as crucial for testing the company's unique capabilities, such as quantum sensing for navigation and timing, quantum error correction decryption, and quantum cybersecurity, in real-world applications.
