Israel Braces for Heatwave's End as Rain Approaches

The Israel Meteorological Service announced on Tuesday that the unseasonably hot and dry weather currently affecting the country will persist for the next two days. Temperatures are expected to reach 33-35 degrees Celsius in the Jerusalem hills and 37-38 degrees Celsius in the lowlands, with very low humidity. These heatwave conditions, including potential "sharav" (a hot, dry desert wind), are forecast to continue through Thursday.

A significant shift is anticipated by the end of the week, with a sharp drop in temperatures expected by Friday. Rain is forecast to begin in northern and central Israel on Friday morning and may continue until Saturday evening. Some areas could see 5-10 millimeters of rain, a notable amount for September, when the average rainfall for the entire month in these regions is typically only 2-3 millimeters.
