Police Arrest 18 Illegal Migrants and Lodi Driver in Van
Israeli Border Police (MAGAV) officers apprehended 18 Palestinian migrants and a Lodi resident suspected of transporting them during a routine patrol in the city of Lodi. The officers observed a van stopped near a building, from which approximately two dozen men emerged. Upon noticing the police and being ordered to stop, the individuals fled into a nearby house, attempting to barricade themselves inside.
Border Police forces surrounded the building and initiated a search. Some individuals attempted to escape on foot but were apprehended after a chase. In total, 18 Palestinians found to be in Israel without legal permits were detained.
The van's driver, a Lodi resident in his thirties, was arrested for questioning on suspicion of smuggling illegal migrants. The van has been seized as part of the investigation, and authorities intend to seek its confiscation. All 18 migrants and the suspected driver were transported to the Lodi police station for further interrogation.
