Israeli Border Police Chase Leads to Arrest of 47 Illegal Residents in Lod

A dramatic police chase unfolded in Lod on Sunday when a driver from East Jerusalem attempted to evade Border Police forces. The pursuit began after the Border Police Central Unit spotted a suspicious vehicle and signaled the driver to stop, but she accelerated dangerously, risking public safety. The chase ended near a residential area where three suspects fled on foot into a nearby apartment.

Upon searching the apartment, officers discovered 35 illegal residents from the West Bank hiding inside. The 42-year-old East Jerusalem woman driving the car was arrested and taken for further questioning at the Lod police station.

In a separate operation on Monday morning, joint forces from the Border Police Central Unit and the Central District Police stopped a minibus carrying 12 additional illegal West Bank residents. The minibus driver, suspected of transporting the illegal residents for payment, was also arrested and brought to the Lod station for investigation.

All 47 illegal residents found in both the apartment and the minibus were detained for further legal processing. The Israeli Police stated that these operations are part of an ongoing mission to combat crime, locate illegal residents, and maintain public security in the area.
