Border Police Arrest 18 Illegal Immigrants in Lod
Border Police officers in central Israel apprehended 18 individuals staying illegally in the country during a routine security operation in the city of Lod. The suspects were found attempting to hide and barricade themselves within a compound after attempting to flee from a commercial vehicle. Officers observed the vehicle stop near the compound, and numerous individuals disembarked. When confronted by the officers, the suspects tried to escape into a nearby complex, with some attempting a second escape on foot after the compound was secured. All 18 individuals were found to be in Israel without legal permits. The driver of the vehicle, a Lod resident in his 30s, was detained on suspicion of transporting the illegal immigrants, and his vehicle was confiscated for investigation. All suspects were transferred to the Lod police station for further questioning.
