Rabid Fox Found Near West Bank Settlement, Prompting Health Alert
Israel's Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday the discovery of a fox infected with rabies in the West Bank settlement of Karnei Shomron and a nearby military base. Sixteen individuals who were potentially exposed to the rabid animal have been referred for preventative rabies treatment.
The epidemiological investigation into the incident is ongoing. The ministry issued a public health warning, urging anyone who had contact with the infected fox, or whose animals may have come into contact with it or other stray animals in the area between August 31 and September 13, to immediately contact the health authorities. This includes reaching out to the health bureau in Petah Tikva or their local health office to assess the need for preventative treatment.
