Rabid Fox Found in Northern Israel; Public Urged to Report Contact
The Israeli Ministry of Health announced on September 8, 2026, that a fox infected with rabies was discovered in the community of Kfar Hittim in the Lower Galilee region. An epidemiological investigation is currently underway, and no human contacts have been identified at this time.
The ministry is urging anyone who may have come into contact with a stray animal in the area between August 23, 2026, and September 6, 2026, to urgently contact the Kinneret Health Bureau at 04-6710300 or their nearest health office to assess the need for preventative treatment.
Pet owners in the vicinity are also advised to consult with their local veterinarian to ensure their animals' vaccinations are up to date.
