Rabid Fox Found in Northern Israel's Ma'ayan Baruch
The Israeli Ministry of Health announced on September 7, 2026, that a fox infected with rabies was discovered in the community of Ma'ayan Baruch in the Upper Galilee. The ministry is urging anyone who may have come into contact with the animal, or whose pets may have encountered a stray animal in the area between August 20 and September 3, to urgently contact the Safed Health Bureau. Individuals can reach the bureau at 04-6994257 or 04-6994200 to discuss preventative treatment. After working hours, individuals should report to the nearest emergency room. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing, and currently, no direct contacts have been identified.
