Boy Who Survived Deadly Attack Fulfills Dream of Being a Police Officer

Five-year-old Ray, who was severely injured in a fatal stabbing attack in Beit Shemesh less than a month ago, experienced a moment of joy and hope by fulfilling his dream of becoming a police officer for a day. The attack resulted in the death of his 7-year-old cousin, Hillel Mordechai Dadon.

Ray, who has shown inspiring resilience in his recovery from the trauma, visited the Jerusalem District Police headquarters. There, he donned a specially tailored police uniform, complete with honorary ranks. He participated in a patrol in a "wishing car" with flashing lights, met a police horse, and even rode one.

The incident occurred on Emek HaZaitim street in Beit Shemesh, where a neighbor allegedly attacked the two boys with a knife while they were playing. Hillel was pronounced dead at the hospital, while Ray was critically injured and hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center.

During his special day, Ray met with the District Commander, Superintendent Avshalom Peled, and received official police ranks in a moving ceremony. "This child has been through unimaginable trauma. To see him standing today, walking, functioning, and smiling, it's incredibly moving," said Major Guy Avrahami, deputy head of the interrogation unit at the district headquarters, who has been accompanying the family.

Ray's mother, Linoy, expressed that her son's smile while wearing the uniform provides the family with much-needed relief and strength to continue. The police have arrested the suspect in the attack, and the investigation is nearing completion, with a severe indictment expected.
