Four-Year-Old Stabbing Victim in Beit Shemesh Released Home After Surgery
A four-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a stabbing attack in Beit Shemesh last week has been discharged from Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center after several days in intensive care. The boy underwent a complex surgery upon arrival at the hospital following the attack, which also claimed the life of his seven-year-old cousin, Hillel Mordechai Dadon.
Prof. Dan Arbel, head of pediatric surgery, and Prof. Nir Hirschhorn, head of complex head and neck surgeries at Hadassah, reported significant improvement in the boy's condition after intensive treatment. The child will continue outpatient follow-up at the hospital until full recovery. The family, who endured a difficult period of anxiety, is now hopeful for his complete healing.
The attack occurred in the afternoon when the father returned home to find the two cousins injured near an inflatable pool in the yard. The mother was out shopping for a birthday celebration, and a 15-year-old relative who was watching the children witnessed the assault. Emergency teams found a grim scene; the seven-year-old succumbed to his wounds at the hospital, while the younger boy was rushed into surgery.
Police arrested a 25-year-old neighbor suspected of carrying out the attack, extending his detention as the investigation continues under the Jerusalem District Police. The suspect is to undergo psychiatric evaluation as part of legal proceedings. The deceased boy's body was released for burial after expedited legal and religious arrangements, with a large funeral held in Beit Shemesh attended by family and friends.
