Boy Wounded in Deadly Attack Becomes Honorary Police Officer

Arutz ShevaRight
Translated & summarized from Arutz Sheva by baba
The story · English

Five-year-old Ray, who survived a brutal attack that killed his seven-year-old cousin Hillel Mordechai Dadon in Beit Shemesh less than a month ago, fulfilled his dream of becoming a police officer for a day. The attack occurred when an assailant entered the home and stabbed the two boys as they played in the backyard pool. Ray was critically injured, while Hillel succumbed to his wounds.

In a heartwarming gesture by security forces ahead of the Jewish New Year, Ray visited the offices of the Jerusalem District's Central Unit, the unit investigating the murder. Specially tailored police uniforms were prepared for him, and he was taken for a ride in a "wishes" police car. He met a police horse and officers, and spoke with Jerusalem District Commander Superintendent Absalom Peled.

During an emotional ceremony, Ray was awarded police ranks by the officer in charge of the investigation. "This child has been through unimaginable trauma," said Lt. Col. Guy Avrahami, deputy commander of the interrogation division leading the investigation. "To see him standing, walking, functioning, and smiling today is incredibly moving. It is a great honor for us to stand here today and salute him."

Ray's mother, Linoy, expressed gratitude to the organizers, stating that seeing Ray smile in uniform during this difficult time gives the family strength and hope for the future.
