Brother of Fallen Israeli Hero Ran Goili Graduates as Police Officer in Emotional Ceremony
At a ceremony held on Monday at the National Police College in Beit Shemesh, 185 cadets completed the Israeli Police Officers Course and were commissioned as officers. Among the graduates was Omri Goili, brother of the late Sergeant Major Ran Goili, who was killed in the October 7 battles. The event was attended by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, Police Commissioner Major General Danni Levi, Head of Training Division Commissioner Hadas Shapira-Madmoni, senior command staff, families of the graduates, and other guests.
The specialized officers course is a key training program designed to prepare commanders for operational, investigative, and intelligence roles. The intensive curriculum included learning procedures, orders, leadership development, operational readiness, combat heritage, and honoring fallen officers. Cadets also participated in the "Witnesses in Uniform" delegation to Poland to deepen their understanding of the Holocaust and commemorate its victims. Additionally, 73 graduates earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Haifa through the police's academic program.
Police Commissioner Danni Levi highlighted the significance of rank as a responsibility, especially in times of crisis, referencing the October 7 attacks when police officers were the first to confront the enemy amid collapsing defense lines in southern communities. Addressing Omri Goili, Levi said, "You carry Ran's legacy into the police command, on your shoulders, in your heart, and in every decision you make as a commander." Head of Training Commissioner Hadas Shapira-Madmoni urged the new officers to uphold the police vision, embrace challenges, and lead with humility and integrity, remembering the sacrifices of fallen officers who inspire their path.
The ceremony underscored the continuity of values such as dedication, leadership, and resilience embodied by the late Ran Goili and now carried forward by his brother and fellow officers in the Israeli Police.
