Pre-Police Preparatory Program Established in Negev to Honor Fallen Fighter Rani Guaily

A pre-police preparatory program is being established at the Holot facility in the Negev to train recruits for combat and command roles in the Border Police. The initiative was launched by the family of Rani Guaily, a Yamam counterterrorism unit fighter who was killed in the battle of Alumim on October 7, with his body later returned in a prisoner exchange. Despite being wounded, Guaily fought bravely until his death, embodying dedication to Israel.

Rani's father, Itzik Guaily, explained that the idea for the program came as a way to preserve Rani's legacy and values. Rani was passionate about Israeli history, music, and helping others, having previously thrived in a mixed Jewish-Druze pre-military program in the north. The new preparatory program will educate participants about Rani’s heritage and prepare them for leadership and combat roles, reflecting his spirit.

The Holot facility, previously used for housing infiltrators slated for deportation and now abandoned, was allocated for this project through cooperation between the Israel Prison Service leadership and the family. The site includes dormitories, infrastructure, and sports facilities, with plans to renovate it for the first cohort expected in September 2027.

The program will accept 40 to 50 Jewish, Druze, and Arab youths destined for combat and command roles in the Border Police. Itzik emphasized the symbolic importance of the Negev location, aiming to integrate participants into local communities and promote social involvement and Zionist values, mirroring Rani’s character.

The family is currently fundraising to cover the estimated 2.5 million shekel budget, with support from the Zionist Federation and plans to launch a similar program for ultra-Orthodox youth in northern Israel. The campaign seeks broad public support to realize the vision of perpetuating Rani Guaily’s legacy through this educational and leadership initiative.
