Updated Peugeot 408 Arrives in Israel with Price Drop and Enhanced Features
The updated Peugeot 408 fastback is now available in Israel, featuring a refreshed design, a new micro-hybrid powertrain, and the top-tier GT trim. Notably, its price has been reduced by NIS 10,000, bringing the cost to NIS 175,000.
The exterior updates include a new bumper, revised lighting with a distinctive illuminated lion emblem and Peugeot lettering, and new wheel designs. The rear lights also feature a new signature. Inside, the GT trim boasts electric front seats with heating and massage functions, driver's seat memory, Nappa leather upholstery, and a panoramic sunroof.
The powertrain has been significantly upgraded. The previous 1.2-liter PureTech engine is replaced by a similar displacement engine with a timing chain and mild-hybrid assistance, producing a combined 145 horsepower. This is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, improving acceleration to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds and increasing fuel efficiency to a claimed 19.6 km/liter.
Additional equipment in the GT trim includes a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch multimedia screen with wireless smartphone connectivity, rain and light sensors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, 19-inch alloy wheels, 360-degree cameras, a wireless charging pad, a heated steering wheel, an electric tailgate, and GT-specific styling elements.
In terms of safety, the vehicle is equipped with adaptive cruise control with lane centering, intersection collision warning with braking, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, and a driver monitoring system. Despite these features, its safety rating from the Ministry of Transport is 4 out of 8, reflecting that some systems are advisory rather than active and the absence of a child presence alert. The car received a 4-star Euro NCAP rating in 2022.
The car comes with a 3-year/100,000 km warranty, with an option to extend to 5 years/120,000 km for NIS 990. Service intervals are set at one year or 15,000 km, whichever comes first.
