Updated Peugeot 408 Arrives in Israel with Price Drop and Enhanced Features
The updated Peugeot 408 fastback is now available in Israel, featuring a refreshed design, a new micro-hybrid powertrain, and the top-tier GT trim. Notably, its price has been reduced by NIS 10,000, bringing the cost to NIS 175,000.
The exterior updates include a new bumper, redesigned lighting with a illuminated lion emblem and Peugeot lettering, and new wheel designs. The interior also sees enhancements, particularly in the GT trim, which now includes electrically adjustable front seats with heating and massage functions, memory settings for the driver's seat, and Nappa leather upholstery. Previously, these features were optional extras.
The powertrain has been upgraded. The previous 1.2-liter "PureTech" engine is replaced by a similar displacement engine with a timing chain and mild-hybrid assistance, producing a combined 145 horsepower. This engine is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, improving acceleration to 100 km/h by one second to 9.4 seconds, and increasing fuel efficiency to a claimed 19.6 km/liter.
Safety features in the GT trim are comprehensive, including adaptive cruise control with lane centering, cross-traffic alert with braking, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams. Despite these advanced systems, the vehicle has a safety rating of 4 out of 8 from the Ministry of Transport, partly due to some systems being advisory rather than active and the absence of a child-reminders alert. The car received a 4-star Euro NCAP rating in 2022.
The vehicle comes with a standard 3-year/100,000 km warranty, with an option to extend it to 5 years/120,000 km for NIS 990. Service intervals are set at one year or 15,000 km, whichever comes first.
