The city is located approximately 80 kilometers from Perim Island, at the narrowest point of the Bab el-Mandeb strait, a vital global shipping lane. Eyewitnesses reported seeing rebel forces enter Al-Mukha chanting slogans against the United States and Israel. The capture of Al-Mukha is seen as a critical development in the ongoing conflict, potentially expanding the Houthis' operational reach near the Bab el-Mandeb strait, which they have previously threatened to block entirely.
