Haifa mayor mourns reservist killed by blast in southern Lebanon

Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav paid tribute to Staff Sergeant Reserve Alexander Filin, a city resident who was killed by an explosive device in southern Lebanon. Yahav said Filin answered the call when summoned and left behind his daily routine and loved ones to help protect Israel and its citizens.

In his eulogy, Yahav described Filin as part of a generation of women and men willing to bear the burden and sacrifice themselves for everyone else. He said that service came from “a sense of mission, responsibility and love of the country.”
