The IDF said on Tuesday that Reserve Staff Sergeant Alexander Filin was killed in southern Lebanon after an explosive device detonated in the village of A-Taybeh. The blast happened around 7:00 p.m. while a force from the 36th Division was operating in the area and struck the device during the mission.
According to the initial inquiry, the device had been planted by Hezbollah operatives. The army said it is still investigating the circumstances and is trying to determine when the explosive was placed.
The same day, at about 6:00 a.m., a suicide drone exploded near a tank belonging to the Givati Brigade combat team. Five soldiers were wounded in that incident, including one in serious condition and two with moderate injuries. Later, another explosive drone hit an evacuation vehicle, and one more IDF soldier was evacuated by helicopter after being hurt.
In response to the attacks, Israeli forces fired artillery at Hezbollah terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
