The IDF announced Thursday morning that Reserve Sgt. Maj. Alexander Filin, 29, of Haifa, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon. Filin served as a fighter in Division 36 headquarters.

In the same incident, a combat officer, a reserve combat officer, and another reserve fighter were moderately wounded. One fighter, two reserve fighters, and a reserve female soldier were lightly wounded.

All of the wounded were evacuated to hospital for treatment, and their families were notified. Since the fighting in the north resumed about three months ago, 31 soldiers have been killed, including 18 since the ceasefire was declared.

Since the war began, the names of 958 fallen IDF soldiers have been released. The military says that number includes 473 fighters killed in battles in the Gaza Strip and 78 fighters killed in battles in southern Lebanon.
