John Malkovich Cancels Israel Performance Over Falsely Attributed Quote
Veteran American actor John Malkovich has canceled his planned appearance in Israel in April 2027, where he was scheduled to perform his satirical show "The Music Critic." The decision stems from a press release issued by the local production company that included a quote falsely attributed to him.
The original press release contained a fabricated quote stating, "I am excited to return to Israel and would be very happy to meet the warm Israeli audience again, to whom I feel great closeness and identification. I hope to meet you happy and optimistic. Sending you much love."
Malkovich informed The Hollywood Reporter that a public relations firm hired by the Israeli promoter fabricated the quote. He emphasized that he never said these words, nor was he consulted before they were published. He stated that the quote does not reflect his feelings and that its publication as a direct quote is unacceptable.
"For this reason, I have decided that I cannot participate in the performance in Tel Aviv," Malkovich said, leading to the cancellation of his engagement.
