Hezbollah Reporter Wounded in Israeli Strike in Southern Lebanon
Ali Shabib, a reporter for the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar network, was injured during Israeli military strikes in the city of Nabatieh, Lebanon, on Monday night. Shabib was evacuated to a hospital, and footage from the scene shows the moment of impact during his live broadcast.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the strikes were a response to Hezbollah launching two explosive drones towards IDF forces operating in the Al-Taher Ridge area of southern Lebanon. No Israeli soldiers were reported injured in the drone attacks.
In retaliation, the IDF targeted several Hezbollah infrastructure sites in southern Lebanon, including a weapons storage facility. Additionally, the IDF attacked several operatives identified transferring weapons in the village of Rouman, aiming to neutralize the threat to its forces. The IDF also stated that following the drone launches, it struck the Nabatieh area and eliminated several Hezbollah operatives, linking these attacks to the drone launches.
The IDF acknowledged reports of civilian casualties during the strikes, stating that the claims are being investigated. "Prior to the attacks, measures were taken to minimize harm to uninvolved individuals, including the use of precision munitions and aerial observation. The claim that several uninvolved individuals were harmed as a result of the attacks is being investigated," the IDF said.
The IDF reiterated its commitment to preventing Hezbollah from harming Israeli civilians and forces, vowing to continue operating to remove threats and uphold the ceasefire agreement.
