News Outlet Settles Lawsuit With Former Broadcaster Netali Shem Tov

News 13 and Netali Shem Tov, a member of the 'Am Israel' party, have reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed by Shem Tov against the broadcasting company. Under the agreement, Shem Tov will receive financial compensation, the amount of which will remain confidential.

Shem Tov had sued News 13 alleging breach of contract, harassment based on worldview, imposition of agendas, and wrongful termination. The dispute escalated around June when News 13 informed Shem Tov that she would no longer host the "Shishi" (Friday) news program, replacing her with other anchors. Shem Tov claimed she was summoned for a hearing in August regarding her termination, with allegations of being denied severance pay and advance notice.

Shem Tov contended that she submitted her claims before the hearing, requesting an investigation into the alleged harassment and disqualification of the interim CEO, Tali Ben-Ovadia, from presiding over her case. She stated that 11 days later, she received notice of immediate termination without her legal entitlements. She described her removal from the air as the culmination of a process involving imposed agendas, unmet company commitments, and obstruction of her program's success.

Shem Tov also criticized the appointment of Tali Ben-Ovadia as interim CEO, calling her methods unacceptable and alleging that other journalists had experienced similar treatment. She expressed hope that others would come forward to break a "code of silence." The 'Am Israel' party issued a statement supporting Shem Tov, vowing to oppose destructive phenomena that endanger Israeli society and prevent the silencing of voices and exclusion based on political grounds, declaring an end to the right-wing's subservience.
