Jerusalem Man, 23, Dies in Vietnam Motorcycle Crash

A 23-year-old man from Jerusalem, David Ben Lulu, has died in a motorcycle accident in Vietnam. Ben Lulu, who held both Israeli and French citizenship, was reportedly riding alone when the single-vehicle accident occurred last Friday.

ZAKA, an Israeli volunteer rescue and recovery organization, is coordinating with the French Foreign Ministry and Vietnamese authorities to repatriate Ben Lulu's body. The French Consulate in Hanoi was opened specifically to expedite the necessary documentation. Efforts are underway to transport the body from hundreds of kilometers away to Israel for burial.

Serge Ben Haim, commander of ZAKA France, described the complex diplomatic efforts involved. He stated that ZAKA has been working continuously with French, Vietnamese, and Israeli officials since learning of the incident. Ben Haim personally visited the French Foreign Ministry, which issued directives to its Hanoi team, and is in direct contact with the French Consulate. He emphasized the goal of returning David for burial in Israel as quickly as possible while maintaining respect for the deceased.

Haim Weingarten, ZAKA's deputy operations director, added that the case requires extensive coordination across multiple countries. ZAKA's international unit and ZAKA France are collaborating to overcome logistical and bureaucratic hurdles to expedite the process and bring Ben Lulu home for burial.
