Jerusalem Man, 23, Dies in Vietnam Motorcycle Crash

David Ben Lulu, a 23-year-old from Jerusalem, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Vietnam last Friday. His dual Israeli and French citizenship has necessitated complex international coordination for the repatriation of his body.

The ZAKA International Unit and Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs are working to bring Ben Lulu's remains back to Israel for burial. The case requires coordination between authorities in multiple countries due to his dual nationality.

Following the report of the incident, ZAKA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been in contact with relevant bodies in France and Vietnam. The French Consulate in Hanoi, which was scheduled to be closed, opened specifically on Sunday to expedite the processing of necessary documents.

Simultaneously, the ZAKA International Unit is working with Ben Lulu's family and local Vietnamese authorities to complete the procedures for transferring his body. ZAKA noted that the deceased was located hundreds of kilometers away from Hanoi.

Serge Ben Haim, commander of ZAKA France, stated that he personally visited the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leading to the consulate's special opening to advance document processing. He confirmed that operations involve French, Vietnamese, and Israeli authorities, as well as direct contact with the family.

Chaim Weingarten, ZAKA's Deputy Operations Director, described the case as complex, requiring action and coordination across several nations. He added that ZAKA International and ZAKA France are collaborating with the family to hasten the procedures for Ben Lulu's burial in Israel.
