Muhammad and Abigail Top Most Popular Baby Names in Israel
As the Hebrew year תשפ"ז (5787) approaches, Israel's Population and Immigration Authority has released data on the most popular baby names. Nationally, Muhammad is the most common name for boys, followed by Ariel, Yosef, Adam, and David. Rounding out the top ten are Omer, Rafael, Lavi, Michael, and Eitan.
When considering only the Jewish population, Ariel leads the list for boys, with David, Rafael, and Lavi also in the top ranks. Uri, Michael, Eliya, Eitan, Yehuda, and Ari complete the top ten for Jewish boys.
For girls, Abigail is the most popular name overall, followed by Miriam, Lia, Libi, and Tamar. The rest of the top ten include Yael, Ayala, Sarah, Ella, and Naya. These names reflect a blend of traditional choices and recently popular selections among Israeli parents.
Within the Jewish sector specifically, Abigail maintains its top position for girls, with Libi and Tamar following. Yael and Lia are also highly ranked, with Ella, Ayala, Sarah, Noah, and Naya completing the top ten for Jewish girls.
