Muhammad and Abigail Top Popular Baby Names in Israel
As the Jewish new year תשפ"ז approaches, Israel's Population and Immigration Authority has released its annual list of the most popular baby names. Nationally, Muhammad was the most common name for boys, followed by Ariel, Yosef, Adam, and David. Other names in the top ten for boys included Omer, Rafael, Lavi, Michael, and Eitan.
For girls, Abigail led the overall list, with Miriam, Leah, Libi, Tamar, Yael, Ayala, Sarah, Ella, and Naya rounding out the top ten. When looking only at the Jewish population, Ariel claimed the top spot for boys, followed by David, Rafael, Lavi, Uri, Michael, Eliya, Eitan, Yehuda, and Ari.
Among Jewish girls, Abigail maintained her first-place position. Libi and Tamar followed closely, with Yael, Leah, Ella, Ayala, Sarah, Noa, and Naya completing the top ten.
