Prominent Zichron Yaakov Official and Community Leader Dies at 65

Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Pollak, a prominent community activist and philanthropist in Zichron Yaakov, passed away at the age of 65 after a difficult illness. He was the eldest son of the revered Mashgiach (spiritual supervisor) Rabbi Avraham Pollak, of the Slabodka Yeshiva.

Pollak served as the Deputy Head of the Zichron Yaakov local council, representing the Degel HaTorah party. He was known for his dedication to public service, assisting constituents, strengthening the local Haredi community, and supporting Torah institutions. He also previously managed the Slabodka Yeshiva and served for years as a kosher supervisor for the Badatz "Eda Hachareidis" at a fish factory in Kibbutz Maagan Michael.

His funeral was attended by large crowds in Zichron Yaakov. Pollak was born in 1961, studied at the Knesses Chizkiyahu Yeshiva, and later settled in Zichron Yaakov with his wife. He was remembered by acquaintances as a kind and welcoming person who dedicated his life to helping others.

Degel HaTorah's municipal department issued a statement mourning his passing, calling him a devoted public servant who worked tirelessly for Torah, Jewish values, and the welfare of the local residents. Menachem Shapira, director of the municipal department, eulogized Pollak as a great man of kindness who sanctified God's name through his actions and left a legacy of public service.
