Zichron Yaakov Council Member Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Pollak Dies at 65

Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Pollak, a local council member in Zichron Yaakov and a prominent businessman in northern Israel, passed away at the age of 65 after a serious illness. He died at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.

Pollak was known for his extensive volunteer work with Magen David Adom (MDA) and ZAKA, both emergency response and recovery organizations. He was also a devoted Torah scholar, delivering a daily "Daf Yomi" (page of Talmud) lesson in his community.

Born in 1961, Pollak was the eldest son of Rabbi Avraham Pollak, a "mashgiach" (spiritual supervisor) at the Knesses Chizkiyahu yeshiva in Rechass, and the grandson of Rabbi Aharon Tzvi Spira-Shulman. He studied at the Knesses Chizkiyahu yeshiva before marrying the daughter of Rabbi Moshe Chaim Shenker.

The couple settled in Zichron Yaakov, where Pollak became active in public service. He served as a council member and deputy head of the local council representing the Degel HaTorah party. In his public roles, he chaired the student loan fund and the property tax discount committee. He also managed the community's Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) institutions.

Pollak was remembered as a kind and helpful individual who was always ready to assist others. His funeral was scheduled to take place in Zichron Yaakov on Friday, the eve of Shabbat Nitzavim-Vayelech, where he was to be laid to rest.
