Prominent Zichron Yaakov Community Leader Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Pollak Dies at 65

Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Pollak, a noted philanthropist and community figure in Zichron Yaakov, passed away Friday at the age of 65 after a battle with a serious illness. He was the son of Rabbi Avraham Pollak, a former supervisor at the Slobodka Yeshiva, and his wife is the daughter of Rabbi Moshe Chaim Shinker.

Rabbi Pollak dedicated his life to charitable work and assisting others. He served as a local council member in Zichron Yaakov representing the Degel HaTorah party and was involved in managing the town's Haredi community. He was also a long-serving member of the ZAKA (Search and Rescue) organization's Northern District team, where he was known for his devotion to performing acts of kindness, particularly in the realm of 'chesed shel emet' (true kindness, often referring to handling the deceased).

ZAKA eulogized Rabbi Pollak, stating, "With great sorrow and grief, we announce the untimely passing of our dear friend, Rabbi Aryeh Pollak, a veteran of the Northern team. A man of kindness who did much for the public, especially in 'chesed shel emet'." His funeral was scheduled for Friday at 3:00 PM at the Zichron Yaakov cemetery.
