Israeli Forces Foil Attack Plot, Arrest Five Terror Suspects
Elite Israeli military unit Duvdevan, operating under the Menashe Brigade, arrested five suspected terrorists in the Qabatiya region of Judea and Samaria early Friday. The operation, based on intelligence from the Shin Bet security agency, targeted a cell allegedly preparing an attack against Israeli civilians and security forces. Soldiers apprehended the suspects within ten minutes of arriving at their locations.
During searches of the suspects' homes, Israeli forces seized an M16 assault rifle along with other weapons and military equipment. The five men were handed over to security services for interrogation.
The arrests occurred just hours after a separate attempted stabbing attack near the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem. A 33-year-old resident of Beit Hanina, who held an Israeli blue identity card, attempted to stab civilians around 3:45 AM but was shot and killed by border guards. No civilians or security personnel were injured in that incident.
