IDF Arrests Five Terrorists in West Bank Planning Attack

Israeli special forces apprehended a cell of five Islamic Jihad terrorists in the West Bank town of Kafr Qabatiya, north of Nablus, early Friday morning. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the group was planning an attack targeting Israeli civilians and security forces. The operation was conducted under the command of the Menashe Brigade and guided by the Shin Bet intelligence agency, following an extensive intelligence gathering effort.

According to the IDF spokesperson, the five individuals were actively advancing terror plots. Duvdevan Unit commandos raided the suspects' locations and detained all five within ten minutes of entering the area. Following the arrests, forces searched the terrorists' homes, where they discovered and confiscated an M16 rifle along with other weapons that the IDF said were hidden at the site.

The apprehended terrorists were transferred for further interrogation by security forces. The incident echoes a similar operation several months prior, where a suspect in Hebron was arrested before carrying out an imminent attack. In that case, the Shin Bet issued a warning that led to a swift and covert operation by the Yamam counter-terrorism unit in central Israel, resulting in the suspect's arrest just before he was set to depart for the planned attack. Security officials noted that the suspect had completed his operational preparations and had left instructions for his family, highlighting the severity of the threat that was neutralized at the last moment.
