Israel Won't Leave Lebanon Security Zone Until Hezbollah Disarmed

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the completion of clearing the Ali-Taher ridge marks a significant stage in establishing control over a security zone in southern Lebanon. He emphasized that Israel will not withdraw from these territories until Hezbollah is fully disarmed throughout Lebanon and threats to the residents of the Galilee are completely eliminated. Katz explained that the advance to the Ali-Taher ridge was necessitated by intelligence indicating the presence of command-and-control tunnels used by militants for attacks on Israeli forces and the Galilee region, and as a key defensive element for Nabatieh.

The operation, conducted under strict secrecy for troop safety, involved challenging terrain. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that troops secured both the surface and underground structures, including command posts, weapons storage, and militant living quarters. This strategic infrastructure, built over two decades with Iranian support, was aimed at facilitating militant activities.

The IDF confirmed its commitment to continuing the security zone's clearance and thwarting any attempts by militants to resume terrorist activities, while adhering to the ceasefire agreement.
