Toddler Rescued After Choking on Sponge Piece in Bnei Brak

A toddler in Bnei Brak was rushed to the hospital after choking on a piece of sponge on Wednesday. Medical teams responded to a call and found the infant unconscious with a blue complexion. Paramedics from Magen David Adom (MDA) performed life-saving maneuvers, successfully removing the sponge piece from the child's airway. The toddler regained full consciousness and breathing shortly after.

Paramedics Eitan Englander and Michal Pless, along with EMT Yosef Pesach, described the scene upon entering the apartment. They immediately recognized the choking incident and initiated procedures to extract the foreign object. "Within seconds, his facial color returned to normal and he regained full consciousness," they reported.

United Hatzalah volunteers, including EMTs Moshe Delbarian and Eliya Halavi, also arrived at the scene. They administered the Heimlich maneuver, a technique used to dislodge obstructions from the airway. "We performed life-saving actions including the Heimlich maneuver, and by the grace of God, he began breathing on his own," the EMTs stated.

Following the medical interventions, the toddler's condition stabilized. He was transported to Beilinson Hospital for further treatment and observation, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
