US Airlines' Return to Israel Faces Uncertainty Amid Security Warnings

Two major American airlines, United Airlines and Delta, are scheduled to resume flights to Israel next week, just before the Jewish holidays. However, the U.S. Embassy in Israel has issued an unusual warning to American citizens in the region, citing complex security conditions and the possibility of unexpected escalation.

The embassy advised U.S. citizens in the Middle East to remain highly vigilant and prepare for potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. They also recommended checking directly with airlines for flight status updates. The embassy noted that a similar advisory was issued in July without subsequent incident.

Delta and United departed Israel after Operation "Breaking Dawn" and are set to operate a combined three daily flights upon their return. The potential cancellation of these flights could strand approximately 1,000 passengers daily, with limited availability on other airlines during the holiday period. If cancellations occur, it is estimated that these airlines might not return to Israel until 2027, as it took them about six months to resume service after their previous departure.

Both airlines are closely monitoring the situation as their return approaches. The resumption of flights is significant, offering much-needed capacity for travelers, especially during the busy holiday season.
