Police shoot at stolen car after driver allegedly tries to ram officers near Modi'in Illit
Police said Tuesday morning that officers opened fire on a stolen car near the Hashmonaim crossing on Route 446, near Modi'in Illit, after the driver allegedly tried to flee the scene. According to the police statement, the suspect broke through a police checkpoint, hit patrol vehicles, and attempted to run over officers at the scene.
Officers said they felt their lives were in danger and fired at the vehicle, bringing it to a stop. The suspect, a Palestinian resident of Bethlehem, received medical treatment at the scene from emergency teams.
