Geely E5 Electric and Starray Plug-in Get Extended Range Options

Geo Mobility, the importer of Geely vehicles in Israel and part of the Union Group, has launched updated versions of two Geely SUVs. The Geely E5, formerly known as the EX5, now features a larger battery pack, increasing its electric driving range without changes to its equipment or price. The Starray, a plug-in hybrid model, also receives an extended range variant.

The updated Geely E5 is equipped with a new 68.39 kWh LFP battery, an increase of 8.17 kWh. This boosts its electric range to between 470-475 kilometers, an improvement of 45-60 kilometers. The electric motor remains unchanged with 214 horsepower, though acceleration to 100 km/h is slightly slower at 7.4-7.6 seconds due to the larger battery. The E5 supports 100 kW fast charging, reaching 30-80% in 20 minutes, and includes V2L and V2V (vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle) charging capabilities.

The E5 will be available in two trim levels: 'Pro+' priced at 162,000 shekels and 'Tech+' at 168,000 shekels. Both trims offer comprehensive safety features, achieving an 8 out of 8 rating from the Ministry of Transport and a 5-star Euro NCAP safety score. The 'Tech+' trim adds premium features like white leather upholstery, driver seat memory, front seat massage, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, and an upgraded sound system.

The Geely Starray, a plug-in hybrid sibling to the E5, is now offered in a new 'Ultra' trim. This flagship version costs 182,000 shekels, an increase of 6,000 shekels over the previous top trim. It shares the same 1.5-liter gasoline engine and electric motor combination, producing a combined 214 horsepower. However, the 'Ultra' trim features a larger 29.8 kWh battery, extending its electric-only range to 136 kilometers, up from 83 kilometers. It also supports faster charging at 60 kW, reaching 30-80% in 16 minutes, and adds front seat massage functions and a 750 kg towing capacity.

The Starray 'Ultra' trim includes all the features of the 'Tech' trim, such as ventilated front seats, a head-up display, a premium sound system, and 19-inch wheels. It also boasts the same high safety ratings as the E5. The previous 'Pro' and 'Tech' Starray trims were priced at 170,000 and 176,000 shekels, respectively.
