Geely E5 Electric and Starray Plug-in Get Extended Range Options

Geo Mobility, the Israeli importer for Geely and part of the Union Group, has launched updated versions of two Geely SUV models. The all-electric E5, formerly known as the EX5, now features a larger battery without changes to its equipment or price. Alongside it, the Starray plug-in hybrid receives an enhanced range variant.

The updated Geely E5 is equipped with a new 68.39 kWh LFP battery, an increase of 8.17 kWh. This boosts its electric range to 470-475 kilometers, an improvement of 45-60 kilometers. The front electric motor remains unchanged, producing 214 horsepower, with acceleration to 100 km/h slightly slower at 7.4-7.6 seconds due to the larger battery. The E5 supports 100 kW fast charging, reaching 30-80% in 20 minutes, and includes V2L and V2V (vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle) charging capabilities.

The E5 will be available in two trim levels: 'Pro+' priced at 162,000 shekels and 'Tech+' at 168,000 shekels. Both trims offer comprehensive safety features, earning an 8 out of 8 rating from the Ministry of Transport and a 5-star Euro NCAP score. The 'Tech+' trim adds premium features like white leather upholstery, memory seats, front seat massage functions, a panoramic sunroof, and a 13.8-inch head-up display.

The Geely Starray, a plug-in hybrid sibling to the E5, also sees a new top-tier 'Ultra' version. This variant shares the 1.5-liter gasoline engine and electric motor combination, delivering a total of 214 horsepower. It features a larger 29.8 kWh battery, extending the electric-only range to 136 kilometers, up from the previous 83 kilometers. The 'Ultra' version also boasts faster DC charging at 60 kW, reducing the 30-80% charge time to 16 minutes, and adds towing capability for up to 750 kg.

The Starray 'Ultra' trim, priced at 182,000 shekels, includes all the features of the 'Tech' trim, plus the aforementioned massage seats and towing capacity. It also retains the high safety ratings of the E5. The Starray was initially launched in Israel late last year with 'Pro' and 'Tech' trims.
