Ben Gurion Airport Prepares for Rosh Hashanah Travel Surge

Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) is anticipating a significant increase in passenger traffic during the upcoming Rosh Hashanah holiday period. Following a busy August that saw approximately 2.65 million travelers, the airport expects around 2.5 million passengers in September. This surge includes an estimated 81,000 passengers at Ramon Airport, 60,000 at Haifa Airport, and an additional half a million people crossing at land border crossings.

In response to potential congestion and following a recent disruption that caused chaos at TLV, the Airports Authority has expanded its workforce at Ben Gurion Airport and border crossings. The authority has identified four peak travel dates: September 10, 17, 22, and 25, during which approximately 100,000 passengers and 600 flights are expected daily.

Popular destinations for travelers during the holidays are projected to be Greece, Cyprus, the United States, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates. To help manage the expected crowds, the Airports Authority advises passengers to verify their departure terminal in advance, complete check-in at home, and print baggage tags at self-service stations. Passengers with only carry-on luggage who have checked in online can utilize a fast track lane in Sector W at Terminals 1 and 3.
