Attempted Assassination in Rahat Leaves Man Critically Wounded

A man, approximately 25 years old, was critically injured overnight Sunday after being shot inside his home in Rahat. The incident involved several masked youths who arrived near his residence in a vehicle and opened fire.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and transported him to Soroka Hospital. Police have launched an investigation into the shooting, with initial suspicions pointing to a dispute between criminal elements in the city.

This shooting follows a police operation last week in Rahat where two trucks and two forklifts, valued at approximately three million shekels, were seized from a logistics compound. Authorities suspect the compound was used for concealing goods and for purposes beyond its permitted land use designation.

The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into a Rahat resident. Officers from the Negev District's money laundering unit and the Rahat police station, along with representatives from the Israel Land Authority and the Tax Authority, participated in the seizure.
