Fuel Prices in Israel to Rise by 16 Agorot Per Liter

The price of a liter of unleaded 95-octane gasoline in Israel will increase by 16 agorot, reaching 8.25 shekels, effective Tuesday night. This marks the latest adjustment in fuel costs, announced Sunday by the Fuel and Gas Administration at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

The increase also affects the surcharge for full-service gas stations, which will rise by one agora to 26 agorot per liter, including VAT. In Eilat, where VAT is not applied, the maximum price for a liter of 95-octane unleaded gasoline at self-service pumps will be 6.99 shekels, an increase of 14 agorot. The full-service surcharge in Eilat will also increase by one agora to 22 agorot, excluding VAT.

Bat Sheva Abuhazira, director of the Fuel and Gas Administration, explained that several factors contributed to the price hike. A roughly 6% rise in international gasoline prices was partially offset by a 3% decrease in the dollar exchange rate, together adding about 10 agorot to the liter price. An additional five agorot per liter resulted from a periodic update by the Tax Authority to the excise tax component, linked to the consumer price index. A further one-agora increase stems from the semi-annual update of the marketing margin.

These combined changes led to the overall 16-agora increase per liter for September. The rise in the full-service surcharge is attributed to a periodic update following an increase in the minimum wage, raising the surcharge from 25 to 26 agorot per liter.
