Gal Gadot Confirms No Talks Yet on Returning as Wonder Woman in New DC Universe

Three years after her last appearances as Wonder Woman, Israeli actress Gal Gadot revealed she has not had any discussions with James Gunn, Peter Safran, or DC Studios about reprising her role or playing a different character in the new DC cinematic universe. In an interview with ScreenRant promoting her new Amazon Prime thriller "The Runner," Gadot said the last significant conversations occurred when the studio was eager to develop a third Wonder Woman film, but since then, she has heard nothing.

Gadot expressed gratitude for having portrayed Diana Prince and sent a supportive message to whoever might take on the role next, calling Wonder Woman an amazing character beloved by many. She first played Wonder Woman in 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," followed by two solo Wonder Woman films and appearances in other DC movies including "Justice League." Her most recent cameos were in "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" and "The Flash," released during the conclusion of the previous DC cinematic universe.

With James Gunn and Peter Safran now co-CEOs of DC Studios, the cinematic universe is undergoing a soft reboot, retaining some characters while leaving Gadot's future uncertain. Meanwhile, a new Wonder Woman film is in development with a script by Anna Nogueira, who also worked on "Supergirl" and is part of the new creative team. Gunn has confirmed no new casting has been announced yet for the role.
