Gantz Signals Possible Reunification Talks with Former Partner Hili Tropper
On Wednesday evening during a private event in Netanya, Benny Gantz, chairman of the Blue and White party, hinted at renewed discussions about reuniting with Hili Tropper, leader of the Zionist Home party, who recently left to join the Reservists party led by Yoaz Hendel. Gantz refrained from revealing details but emphasized that "past grievances will not be a factor in efforts to strengthen the moderate and influential political bloc in Israel." Both Blue and White and Zionist Home parties are currently polling below the electoral threshold, while the Zionist Home-Reservists list is approaching it, making a potential alliance with Gantz a possible path to crossing the threshold.
In addition to talks with Tropper, Gantz is also negotiating with the Unity party led by Gilad Erdan and Yuli Edelstein, and has invited Ayelet Shaked to join efforts to surpass the electoral threshold. The Zionist Home-Reservists party stated that while many parties have approached them, no formal negotiations are underway. Earlier on Wednesday, the Unity party confirmed a positive meeting between Erdan and Gantz, with plans for further discussions soon, as Erdan intensifies efforts to unify the opposition bloc.
