Gluten Recall Issued for Cocoa Powder After Testing Finds Excess Gluten

The Health Ministry announced today, Thursday, an immediate recall of organic cocoa powder from the Green Future brand after tests found discrepancies that do not match the labeling on the package.

According to the ministry, a test conducted by the Food Service at the Jerusalem District Health Office found that the product, marketed as “gluten free,” contains gluten levels exceeding the permitted values for products of this type. It was also found that the product was manufactured in violation of the relevant legal requirements. Following the findings, and in coordination with the Health Ministry, the product has been withdrawn from sale nationwide.

The product is “Organic Cocoa Powder, Gluten Free” (Organic Cocoa Powder) by the Green Future brand, in a 100-gram package, manufactured by Peleg Yezmuyot Beit Arizah Galgal and marketed by the company “Want the Nature.” The recall applies to all products bearing an expiration date up to and including February 28, 2028.

The Health Ministry stressed that consumers with celiac disease, a gluten allergy, or gluten sensitivity who have the product are asked not to consume it. The company is currently working to remove the product from shelves, and the public is asked to check any products in their possession and avoid consuming them until the recall process is completed.
