Israel's Ministry of Health issued an immediate recall for the "Revival Miracle" hair straightening product on Sunday, following the hospitalization of a woman after using it. The ministry urged the public, hairdressers, and distributors to cease all use, marketing, and sales of the product.
The incident began when a report was received about a woman admitted to Rambam Hospital after undergoing a hair straightening treatment with "Revival Miracle." The product's label indicates it is manufactured by "P.R. Colordesign."
A Ministry of Health representative visited the salon where the product was used and collected a sample for laboratory testing. The ministry also contacted "P.R. Colordesign," but had not yet received a response.
Initial investigations revealed that the product was being marketed without a license. Furthermore, the product's label states it contains glyoxylic acid, an ingredient strictly prohibited in such products in Israel. The ministry warned that using unlicensed or improperly formulated hair straightening products poses a significant public health risk.
Salons were advised to verify that all cosmetic products they use are legally marketed and do not contain unverified or unsafe ingredients. The ministry also stressed that anyone experiencing unusual symptoms after hair straightening, such as decreased urination, swelling, nausea, vomiting, abdominal or back pain, or extreme fatigue, should seek immediate medical attention and provide details of the product used.
