דובר צה"ל הודיע כי 14 אזרחים ישראלים הגיעו לאזור אלון הבשן וחצו את הגבול לשטח סוריה. כוח צה"ל הוזעק למקום, איתר אותם והשיבם לישראל. האזרחים שנעצרו יועברו להמשך טיפול של משטרת ישראל.

צה"ל גינה בחריפות את האירוע, ותיאר אותו כ"הפרעה חמורה נוספת לפעילות מבצעית" המסכנת את ביטחון הכוחות הפועלים באזור. צה"ל קרא לרשויות החוק למצות את ההליכים המשפטיים נגד המעורבים, במטרה למנוע הישנות של תופעה זו, המהווה עבירה פלילית.
