Israeli Civilians Cross Into Syria, Prompting Military and Police Response

Several Israeli civilians crossed the border into Syrian territory near Majdal Shams on Thursday, prompting the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to launch search operations to locate and safely return them to Israel. After about 24 hours, the civilians were found in Syria, detained, and handed over to the police for further processing. The IDF also reported multiple attempts by Israelis to cross into Syria from the southern Golan Heights border area on Friday, all of which were prevented by security forces.

The IDF highlighted a recent increase in such incidents, noting that these unauthorized border crossings divert military attention from regular operational activities and compromise security. The military described these actions as criminal offenses that endanger both the civilians involved and the security forces. The IDF condemned the incidents and called on law enforcement agencies to take firm action against those involved to deter future occurrences.
